We are excited to announce that AGU won two prestigious American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Power of A Awards:

  • Summit Award in the Global Development category for our Centennial Grants Program
  • Silver Award for our overall Centennial Initiative

We are celebrating with all of you who were integral in creating Centennial experiences that engaged more than 60 million people around the world in our Earth and space sciences community.

Specifically, a huge thank you to the volunteers, including the section leaders who were heavily engaged in the planning and execution of Centennial. Tim Grove and the Centennial Steering Committee were instrumental to our success by providing important guidance and leadership throughout the multi-year effort.

We are so proud of the numerous successful initiatives we created, such as:

  • Celebrate 100 and Science Day Grants that reached more than two million people in more than 31 countries.
  • 80 forward-looking, societally relevant scientific papers addressed grand challenges facing humanity, marking the path for the next century of Earth and space sciences research in service to society.
  • Austin Student Travel Challenge that will send 60 additional students to Fall Meeting in perpetuity.
  • Fall Meeting scientific program designed and supported by hundreds of members that interactively showcased the past and future of science and is serving as a model for innovative sessions for future meetings.
  • Expanding partnerships with 20 worldwide organizations to co-lead field trips, lunar landing panel as well as conferences in China and Canada.

AGU is among an elite few who have won multiple awards in the same year. In addition, many of you will remember that Thriving Earth Exchange won the Summit Award in 2019 so we are back-to-back recipients.

The next time you visit AGU HQ, you’ll have to see our two newest awards. We are also proud that Eos won five Association Media & Publishing Excel Awards and Communications won three Hermes Creative Awards.

Thank you for your continued involvement in AGU!
