1. Hi, i’ve got a photo comparison for Ochsentaler Gletscher (Silvretta Alps, Austria) from this year. You had a picture from 1995 in your Ochsentaler blog post, but no recent image. So, here is a comparison between the 1995 view and the current view (as of 03. Sep 2011).

4. Hi, I’m happy you have use for the picture. You may credit the image with Christian D. if you like. I’m not that comfortable with using my full name on every blog 😉

   The lower part of the glacier, below the icefall, will IMO vanish in the next few years completely. If you look carefully, you can see that it not only shrunk in extent but the lower part is much thinner than even a few years ago, which indicates for me, that the ice flow from the upper part to the lower part is beginning to stall. In the icefall you can see fresh rocks on the ice from newly exposed bedrock, so the glacier will retreat above the icefall IMO in only a few years from now.

   I would have pictures from some of the Stubai and Ötztal Glaciers about which you have written blog posts too, but they are all from ski touring in the winter, which doesn’t tell much about the glaciers extent 😉

   I hope my german school-english was understable. In any case, I enjoy reading your blog posts, especially when they are about glaciers I know (obviously mostly from europe) or about glaciers from remote places. Keep up the good work.
