The Ocean is Roaring in Ocean City, Maryland

Screen Shot 2016-09-04 at 11.05.12 AMBelow is a short live remote I did this morning from near the inlet in Ocean City. Depending on the track and strength of Hermine, conditions may still get worse from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, all the way to Long Island tonight ,and Labor Day. If we are lucky, the storm will stay far enough offshore to keep the coastal flooding to moderate. Stalled out storms are not handled well by the numerical models, because the steering currents are weak, so a lot of forecasters (me included) will sweat out the next 36 hours..

Some other video I shot with my iPhone is below as well.

Model guidance is still showing the possibility of a significant coastal flood event. If the storm does not strengthen or edge closer to the Mayland/Jersey Shore, then it will not be as bad.

Keep in mind, the exact same storm in 1966 would have water levels over 5 inches lower here, more in some places. The ocean is rising. The NY Times had a great piece about the increased number of flood days on the East Coast this weekend.
