Drought Relief Coming For The Eastern U.S.??

Posted by Dan Satterfield

Rainfall over the SW and much of America East of the Mis. River has been way below normal over the last 3 months. Image NOAA.

The Eastern U.S. is below:

This is rain as a percentage of normal for the year to date.

Now the good news:

A deep upper level low will develop over the weekend, and while the exact evolution of this system is still uncertain, it will likely bring some significant rainfall to the Eastern U.S. This is the NOAA GFS NWP model. The Euro models are also indicating much the same. (Showing total precip. over the next 7 days)
