Keep Looking Up Jack and RIP
Posted by Dan Satterfield
His signature sign-off was “KEEP LOOKING UP!”
Jack Horkheimer was the star of the PBS series Star Gazer and taught millions to look up at the night sky in wonder. He was a grand ambassador for science. He died on Friday, and the astronomy world is the poorer for it.
There are astronomers to be who will have gotten the star bug from Jack Horkheimer.
He leaves a great legacy.

Wow – remember that guy well from when I was a little kid and watched PBS all the time. Never knew his name, but I instantly recognized the face. I think of him kind of like Mister Rogers . . . contributed a lot to the world in a very simple, playful way. (Horkheimer was a little more flamboyant here than I remembered him being – haha.) Hard to believe such folks are no longer with us.
