Friday fold: helicopter and anticline in the Yukon

Look over there beyond the helicopter; what’s that I see?
Why, it’s a Friday fold, a guest submission, to start off the new year!
A pretty sweet macro fold from the Sekwi Fm of the Mackenzie Mountains on the Yukon – Northwest Territories border. Large-scale fold hinges are common locus points of base metal mineralization along the carbonate platform of the ancestral North American margin.

For his work on this blog, the National Association of Geoscience Teachers recognized him with the James Shea Award. He has also won the Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council on Higher Education in Virginia, and the Biggs Award for Excellence in Geoscience Teaching from the Geoscience Education Division of the Geological Society of America.
